SUPPORT SERVICES
I offer a variety of support services personalised for each family. Depending on when you hire me, I can provide support antenatally, developing a birth plan and picking the right birthing facility, pool hire, on call and birth, postnatal care alongside infant feeding, babywearing and light house jobs.

What is a Doula?
Doulas support in pregnancy, birth and in the postnatal period, by providing information, advocacy and offering practical and emotional support to the entire family.
As a doula, I am able to accompany you and your partner through the process of preparing for birth and support you during labour, birth and bonding. I also support you in the first weeks after birth and will visit at least twice . I do not give medical advice nor do I undertake examinations or perform any other clinical task. I cannot make decisions for you. I can only act as a spokesperson for you (if this has been clearly stated in your birth plan). I am independent and self-employed. I am working for you, not your caregiver or hospital.
I draw on my knowledge and experience, to provide you with emotional support and physical comfort measures. If the need arises I can help you communicate with your midwife and medical care takers to ensure that you have all the information you need to make informed decisions during pregnancy, labour, bonding and early parenting. I can provide continuity of support for you and your partner, make suggestions for planning and preparing for your birth and bonding environment and building rapport with your midwives and medical attendants.
I am able to make suggestions for labour progress, help with relaxation, positioning and other comfort measures. I can help safeguard your bonding period and am available for consultation after the baby is born. I do not come between you and your partner but rather support both of you.
Each package is individually tailored to you and your family’s needs, if you feel time, distance or cost is a barrier to you having support, don't hesitate to get in touch and discuss.

WHAT IS A POSTNATAL DOULA?
I am here to “hold the mother” so that the mother can “hold the baby”.
My role as a postnatal Doula is one of support, I will be guided by the mother’s needs, wishes and decisions. Unlike a maternity nurse, a doula is not there to take care of the baby for you, instead, I believe in supporting you to be the parent you want to be.
Postnatal doulas also provide emotional support for mothers and couples, in todays society parents can often feel overwhelmed by differing advice offered, I am here to give new parents the opportunity to talk things through, just chat, knowing that they will not be dismissed or told what to do. Talking over the birth is a usual part of this, but postnatal doulas can also be there to support parents through concerns about siblings, feeding, going back to work, weaning and sleep.
Supporting family’s, mothers and baby’s postnatally is a huge passion of mine, helping a new mother blossom into a new time in her life is wonderful to witness and support. I can carry out all tasks helpful to the mother, from light household, holding space to infant feeding/ breastfeeding support and baby wearing advice having had extra training in these areas.
Each client will need a different support and this will be discussed individually to cater to the family’s needs.
The amount of time and frequency of visits also depends on need and preference so please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss.
